our (almost) 4 year old...

Just before we walked out the door to go to his big birthday bash at Monkey Joe's...Me: Tate, will you smile for just 1 picture for me with your special "4" shirt on since it's your special day?

Tate: Ummmm...no.

Me: Well Tate, the thing is, since you're 4 now (he's technically not until the 5th), you're a big boy and 4 year olds smile for pictures when their mommies ask them to.

Tate: OH, okay!

And then I got the picture above.
