On the walls...

Isn't it funny how items can look so different dependent on the home you're hanging them in. I have some favorite things that I have hung up...way more than I am posting here, but I thought I'd show you a few. :)
All (but the mirror) were items that I had hung up in our previous home, but there's something about hanging them on the walls of a cuter and larger home that makes the items themselves look so much better. It's like our home is making our things look nicer instead of trying to make our home look nicer by putting our things in it...which is kind of what I think we were trying to do before. Problem was, most of our things aren't that nice either! :)
I LOVE the items that are pictured below for various reasons...

My Africa. I am in love with this peice. It was painted by a local artist and was auctioned off this winter at the Wine to Water event put on to raise money for Water For Christmas. It is titled "Quest for Water". Water for Christmas partners with Charity:Water to fund and build fresh water wells all over the world. The money raised by Water For Christmas goes to funding wells in Liberia, Africa. So many people on this earth do not have access to clean water and die every day because of it. It's just not okay and this Africa is a reminder to me every single day that we are so blessed to have something as simple as clean water when millions out there do not. This reminds me to thank God for my blessings every day and prevents me from ever forgetting about those who need our help in getting this crucial necessity.
Isn't it beautiful?
These birds are in our bathroom. I can't quite put my finger on why I am so in love with these 2 pictures. Maybe it's the colors or their vintage feel. I have kind of developed quite the liking for all things bird lately as well. These 2 pictures hung in our previous bathroom and I actually did love them in there too, however, our current bathroom needed this splash of brightness and these 2 pictures are fun to look at while one may be spending some time in the bathroom...you know, doing what people do in the bathroom. ;-)
I had my eyes on this frame for almost a year prior to Sean getting it for me for my birthday 1 1/2 years ago. I love it and I love the picture in it of Sean and I swinging Tate. It reminds me to cherish this time while Tate is still young. Sometimes it's just too easy to get caught up in the frustration of our lack of sleep, Tate's tantrums, defiance and so on that we too often we wish he were past those things and he would grow out of them. The thing is, these times when we get to witness him learning so many new things, he will still cuddle with us, give us hugs and kisses, and want to be with us every minute of the day will soon be gone and we will wish we cherished them more.

And I am super excited about this new mirror we now have hanging in our dining room. It was a crazy good deal at TJ Maxx and fits perfectly in our house. I love how it reflects light and makes the room look bigger. I love the chunky frame and how it looks like it was just meant to be hanging just where it is. And as you can see, in this picture it's reflecting one of my 2 built in corner hutches that I LOVE LOVE LOVE.

(I was just told that this picture is deceiving and you can't tell what the size of the mirror is. It's actually 4 feet long by 3 feet tall)

I have had several of you ask me to post pictures of our house now that it's decorated. I will, I promise. It's just that every time I think about it, I either have a laundry basket of clothes sitting in the middle of the room, it's evening and the light isn't right for taking pictures or I have a dead camera battery!

Everything looks great but I have to mention to your "lookers" that the mirror is way bigger than it appears in your pic posted. Love Tate's family pic AND love him!! :) Too cute!
