Just so you know, if you ever come over to our house and use the back door, do not grab the handrail outside on the way up the stairs. Tate must have slid his hand across it when going up the stairs today and as soon as he did, he yelped in pain, lifted his hand and I saw that it had dirt all over it...or so I thought. Upon further examination, I realized that he had a palm FULL of splinters...deep splinters. Ugh. He was FREAKING out. I was a little concerned that he may not be able to handle me pulling splinters out of his palm for a long period of time. He just kept saying, "get it off, it hurts!" He wanted to wash his hands and soon realized that wasn't going to fix the problem. So I grabbed tweezers. I got 2 out with tweezers, but the rest were too deep to reach with tweezers, so I got out a needle. He was surprisingly cooperative. He cried pretty much the whole time, but didn't whail, just sobbed quietly. At one point he said, "thank you mommy, you're a really good mommy" between sobs. Ummm, seriously I wanted to hug him so tightly. He was so strong. I wanted to keep track of the splinters as I pulled them out because I knew there were a lot and wanted an accurate number to disclose. So 27, yes 27 splinters later, they are almost all out. There is one deep one that broke as I was pulling it out, so I can't fully get it. Hopefully it'll work it's way up to the surface so I can get it later. His poor palm is all gnarly and bloody and peely from me tearing the skin to get to the splinters. It looks sore and painful. Poor baby. :(
(oh, and I asked him if I could take a picture of his hand and between sobs, he said "please don't mommy", so I couldn't bare to force him to let me)

I cannot believe he actually let you get them all out!
Im so impressed!
Poor little guy!! I'm impressed he let you get them too!
I am impressed as well!! When Jax got 9, I had to him tylenol and let him watch cartoons with a warm washcloth in his hand. Then when he was super passed out I gently took as many as I could get. There was no chance while he was awake! And I see some sand paper and sealant in Sean's future :)
