I just finished reading this book and all I can say is, "WOW", it was very convicting and inspiring. It is a MUST READ...an easy read and a quick read. Here are a couple of excerpts that especially stood out to me...
"Why don't we act? Why don't we choose to make a difference? One reason is because we are afraid. We spend most of our time trying to protect what we have, fearing what would happen if it went away. When we do this, we become shackled to our possessions. In essence, we limit our range of motion. We can't reach far enough to offer compassion because our arms are too busy holding on to all that we own."
"Jesus is interested in what we are doing with our compassion and acts of mercy. He doesn't care about how religious we appear. If our Christian faith doesn't manifest into something that helps the life of another human being, it doesn't mean squat to him."
"For many Americans, life is defined simply by our "stuff." By the house we live in and by the car we drive. By the diploma we hang on the wall and the size of our bank account. But we weren't created so we could simply amass wealth and influence. We were created for something more. To live for something bigger than ourselves."
Seriously...read this book!
