Our day consisted mostly of getting ready to head to Muscatine for the weekend. I was so busy yesterday that I never even took a shower, so that was a must on my list today. The problem with that was that for some reason, Tate was EXTRA clingy to me today. Usually when I shower, he plays in the livingroom while Praise Baby plays on the television or he is napping. It didn't work out for me to shower during his nap today because I had a migraine and took a nap myself! Then, when I left Tate in the livingroom to go shower, he cried and cried and cried and I felt bad...especially because it's his birthday! :) SO, I decided to push his high chair down the hall and set it in front of the bathroom door so that I could talk to him and peek out every now and then while I showered. I sprinkled several goldfish on his tray and stepped into the shower. I was not in there 30 seconds when Tate started crying hysterically. I tried to sing, play peek a boo with the shower curtain, talk to him, ANYTHING, but nothing would make him stop. I looked out of the shower curtain and noticed that between deep inhales and sobs, Tate was continuously shoving the goldfish in his mouth until he must have had nearly 10 in there! I was getting nervous that he would choke, so I was hurrying so I could get the goldfish out of his mouth. Well, I wasn't quick enough...just as I was about to rinse the shampoo out of my hair, I stopped hearing Tate and when I looked out, he was gagging, red faced and couldn't breath! I freaked! I jumped out of the shower, soapy and sopping wet and started smacking him on the back...it wasn't working. I shoveled all of the goldfish out of his mouth and he still couldn't get air, so I yanked him out of the high chair and had him over my arm while smacking his back. The pressere on his stomach I was hoping would make him throw up whatever was choking him. It seemed like an eternity (although it was actually maybe 10 seconds max) before he finally coughed a bit and threw up the chunk of chewed up goldfish he was choking on! WHEW! It scared me to death!!!! He was a bit stunned and upset and now he was sopping wet and sudsy from all of the soap that was on me. The bathroom had water all over the floor along with Tate's thrown up goldfish and I still had to finish showering! After sitting with him while he calmed down for a couple of minutes, I was able to sit him on the floor and in record time, finish my shower. That whole fiasco wore me out!
Shortly after that, Sean got home and we packed everything up and were headed out the door within an hour. Tate fell asleep before we even got on the interstate in Des Moines and we had wake him up when we arrived in Muscatine! I think he was a worn out little boy! I slept pretty much the entire way to Muscatine as well and woke up refreshed and headache free!
When we arrived to Muscatine, we hung out with Nana, Papa, Brigg, Lani, Cassie and Paul for a bit before we headed out to dinner at the Charthouse. We had a great meal and then came home and relaxed and played with Tate. Right before Tate went to bed, I discovered that he FINALLY cut his 8th tooth!!!!! WOOHOO! Tate was exhausted and went right to sleep. He's getting his rest for the big day tomorrow!!!
This time last year, we still did not know yet that we had a son. At that very moment, Tate's birthparents were making the toughest decision of their lives. We are so grateful for both of them and thank God for them everyday! We cannot even imagine the tough time that they had today and they were in our thoughts and prayers constantly today. Please pray that they continue to heal. These next couple of days will probably be especially hard for them as they remember what they were doing on these days last year.

I am asking God to wrap his loving arms around them and allow them to feel His love for them always. God bless. Such a gift we cannot express our appreciation and thoughts of what this was like for you both. I am praying for you this day.... Praise be!! Tate you are truly a gift from heaven.
